2025 PIT Count Review

Yesterday, ARS participated in Snohomish County’s annual Point-in-Time Count (“PIT Count”). The PIT Count is an important tool the County and other agencies utilize to determine the needs and effectiveness of the services provided in our region. With the help of volunteers and dedicated officials, the County conducts the PIT Count each January.

ARS’ Outreach Director, Tony Thompson, led a team of volunteers to support this year’s PIT Count. Mr. Thompson, a Washington State Certified Peer Counselor and CCAR Certified Recovery Coach, was voted ARS’ Director of the Year in 2022. Thanks in part to Mr. Thompson’s leadership, ARS’ Outreach Division now includes a WHAA Medical Clinic, a South Snohomish County Chaplain, several Certified Peer Counselors, and CCAR Certified Recovery Coaches.

The 2024 PIT Count revealed a slight downward trend in the unhoused population – nearly 10%. (Snohomish County, 2024).[1] Executive Somers credited the improvement to increased federal resources and partnerships with social services agencies. (Snohomish County, 2024).[2] Somers also noted an uptick in households engaging the Coordinated Entry System, a resource for individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. (Snohomish County, 2024).[3]

While we are eager to learn more about the changing demographics of the suffering here in Snohomish County, our calling remains the same – to be near and care for the brokenhearted. Housing insecurity is a complex issue – one fraught with sincere conviction on all sides. Our conviction here at ARS is that it’s the coalescing crises of spiking housing and living costs, the rapid rise of sufferers trying to numb those stresses and hurts, and still others (and the same) wrestling with mental health disorders.

This means we are focused on the underlying illness– not the symptoms. Our society is frantically searching for peace, for contentment. If you are looking for peace, or a better path to contentment, give us a call. We are here to partner with you.
